Service
Classic massage therapy in Hamburg-Ottensen
Good against tension, good for arriving — and honestly, rarely the whole solution.
What it is
Classic massage therapy works with stroking, kneading and friction techniques on the muscles. It promotes circulation, reduces muscle tone and has a relaxing effect through the nervous system.
It is a prescribable remedy and can equally be booked as a self-pay service.
When it helps
- with muscular tension in neck, shoulders and back
- with complaints from long periods of sitting or one-sided load
- as preparation, when an area is too painful for active exercise
- under high stress, when tension settles in the body
- alongside sport, for recovery
How I approach it
To be straightforward: massage works reliably, but usually for a limited time. If tension keeps coming back, the cause rarely lies in the muscle itself — but in a load it cannot carry, or a position it has to hold permanently.
So I like to use massage as an entry point and combine it with active training. Why load beats rest with persistent complaints is explained in the FAQ.
If you deliberately just want a massage, that is entirely fine — say so and that is what we will do.
How a session works
We briefly clarify where it hurts and how it feels — dull, pulling, pinpointed. Then I treat the affected region and the areas connected to it. With the neck that almost always means the upper back and shoulder girdle as well.
You help set the intensity. There is no link between how painful a treatment is and how well it works — more on that in the FAQ.
The day after, the treated area can feel as it does after training. That is normal and settles quickly.
Billing
I treat patients with all statutory health insurers, private patients, employers’ liability insurance associations (BG) and self-payers.
Whether your treatment runs on a prescription or as a self-pay service, we clarify before the first appointment — you know in advance what to expect.
