Equipment-based exercise therapy in Hamburg-Ottensen
For when your own body weight no longer provides enough resistance — and when load needs to be dosed precisely.
What it is
Equipment-based exercise therapy, KGG for short, is a remedy in its own right: supervised medical training on cable and weight machines. Unlike free exercise, resistance can be adjusted in small increments — and in rehabilitation that is often decisive.
KGG has to be prescribed separately and is carried out in longer sessions than classic therapeutic exercise.
When it helps
- in the later phase after surgery, once rebuilding is allowed
- with clear loss of strength after a long period of rest
- with chronic back complaints
- when returning to sport, where load should be increased step by step
- when you have reached a limit training at home and need more resistance
How it works with me
First we decide which training stimulus makes sense right now — strength endurance, strength, tendon capacity or coordination. Each has its own targets for repetitions, rest and tempo; there is an overview in the FAQ.
Then we set up the machines together and you learn the execution. I correct, record the weights and adjust them as soon as you exceed the upper repetition limit in your first set.
You get a documentation sheet recording weight and repetitions per set, so progress is traceable rather than a matter of feeling.
What to expect in the training room
The training room is compact and not a gym with an audience. You do not train alone among strangers but with me next to you — I correct the execution and watch how the movement changes as fatigue sets in.
We work on cable machines and with free weights, plus body-weight exercises. Which equipment we use depends on the goal, not on what happens to be free.
Bring comfortable clothing, sports shoes and a towel. Everything else is here.
Billing
I treat patients with all statutory health insurers, private patients, employers’ liability insurance associations (BG) and self-payers.
Whether your treatment runs on a prescription or as a self-pay service, we clarify before the first appointment — you know in advance what to expect.
